The Junior League of Wilkes-Barre made a $24,000 Donation to Ruth's Place, an emergency shelter for women in need. The monies were raised through the JLWB's annual event -- The Wine & Dine at the Luzerne County Courthouse. Funds will be utilized to make capitol improvements to Ruth's Place.
Each year for the past five years, the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre has held its major fund raiser, the Wine & Dine at the Luzerne County Court House. Patrons of the event sample wine and delicious dishes graciously donated by area restaurants. This year's Wine & Dine event will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Mohegan Sun. Today, the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre is comprised of approximately 40 active members and more than 140 sustaining members.
